Identify and Process Faulty Tags

A tag is suspected of being faulty when it appears on the faulty tag report, or when a cow's data is no longer retrieved. Follow the steps below to avoid confusion over which tags are still in service.

To report and handle a suspected faulty tag:

  1. Take a photo of the suspected faulty tag number and send it to your application support person (for example via Whatsapp).

  2. Wait for the support person to review the tag and respond. The reply is one of two possibilities:

    • The tag is faulty - Support directs the appropriate person to implement the return policy.

    • The tag is unlikely to be faulty - Data is transmitted from the tag. Afimilk support may require the tag to be placed close to a Reader, or request further information about how the of the tag is positioned on the cow, or the cow's location relative to the Reader.

  3. Once tag is confirmed as faulty, remove it from the cow. then remove the strap and mark the tag so it is easily identified as faulty.
