Correct a Heifer's Date of Birth following DNA Test

When a calf has been DNA tested, her birth date in a third party protocol may differ from the birth date held in AfiFarm. The difference shows as a failed event in the import results. Changing the birth date in AfiFarm to match the third party protocol resolves this issue.

To change the heifer's birth date in AfiFarm:

  1. In AfiFarm, run a search for the cow. For a birth ID, type R= before the birth ID.

  2. Open her cow card (General, Card ID), then update the yellow Birth date field.

AfiFarm occasionally rejects the new birth date. If this happens, exit the heifer from AfiFarm and let the the third party protocol integrate her back into the system.

  1. In her cow card, add an exit event, make sure to select the Delete from Database check box, then click Save.

  2. Run the a third party protocol integration to import the heifer with the correct birth date.

Note: Tidy this up while the animals are young stock and before they are collared. No collar data is lost, because there is none there yet.
